Pakistan PM to Visit Tajikistan to Inaugurate Project for 1000 MW Electricity to Pakistan

The Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, will visit Tajikistan (On May 12) to inaugurate installation of transmission line for supply of 1,000 MW electricity to Pakistan. President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani will also be present on the occasion.

The work on transmission would be completed within a period of two years with a cost of 1.2 billion dollar. All arrangements including necessary financial resources had been made to undertake the project forthwith. The Afghan government had already provided surety for the safety of the transmission line.

As per the agreement, Tajikistan would export 1,000MW hydel electricity to Pakistan under Central Asia South Asia (CASA 1000) project through a 750 kilometre long transmission line by year 2018.
