India Set To Strike Power Deal With Bangladesh

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has said that it will sign a contract with Bangladesh on February 28 for setting up a 2*660MW power plant in district Khulna at a cost of USD 1.6 billion. Exim Bank, the external lending arm of the Indian government, agreed to bear 70% funding of the project’s costs at a soft interest rate of around 1% above Libor – the leading global benchmark for pricing transactions.


JICA Supporting USD 300 mn Water Supply Project for Western Province, Feb 26,’16

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has agreed to support the Sri Lankan government to implement new city development projects and projects to supply clean drinking water (Western Province, targeting Colombo and its suburbs) to the people of Sri Lanka. Therefore, JICA will provide US $ 300 million for the entire clean water project, which will be given to Sri Lanka as a concessionary loan.
