KPK Govt Signs $1.6 Billion Railway Project with Chinese Company, Aug 04,’16

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and China Communication and Construction Company Ltd has signed the Circular Railway Project worth $1.6 billion at Chief Minister’s Secretariat Peshawar. The project links Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda with future expansion to Swabi and a speedy service from Peshawar to Islamabad.  China Communication and Construction Company Ltd shall conduct a feasibility study, inclusive of concept design, cost estimation and will prepare a technical and financial proposal to the provincial government in respect of the development of the project. It would also provide a technical specification to the government for the soil investigation and survey.

Pakistans Economic Corridor Project Planned, July 07,’17

A budget worth nearly US$473 million will be used for work on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. This will form a key portion of Pakistan’s Public Sector Development Programme for the 2016/2017 period. The Burhan-Hakla section is expected to require two years to construct and will be 285km long. This stretch will run through Rehmani Khel, Rokhri, Mianwali, Sawan and Pindi Gheb. The DI Khan section stretch of the highway should be complete by mid-2018, while the stretch from Gwadar to Surab should be ready for traffic by the end of this year.

Three More LNG Coal Based Power Plants on Cards, May 09,’16

The Pakistan government has decided to construct three more coal and LNG-based power plants of 880 MW in collaboration with the private sector. The projects including two coal-fired plants of 330MW each in Thar would be set up through private investment at a cost of around $800 million. The Engro Powergen has started construction activities on the 660MW power projects.

Pakistan PM to Visit Tajikistan to Inaugurate Project for 1000 MW Electricity to Pakistan

The Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, will visit Tajikistan (On May 12) to inaugurate installation of transmission line for supply of 1,000 MW electricity to Pakistan. President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani will also be present on the occasion.

The work on transmission would be completed within a period of two years with a cost of 1.2 billion dollar. All arrangements including necessary financial resources had been made to undertake the project forthwith. The Afghan government had already provided surety for the safety of the transmission line.

As per the agreement, Tajikistan would export 1,000MW hydel electricity to Pakistan under Central Asia South Asia (CASA 1000) project through a 750 kilometre long transmission line by year 2018.
