Sri Lanka to Build LNG Power Plant in Kerawalapitiya

According to the Sri Lankan Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy, Sri Lanka will build a new 300MW LNG power plant in Kerawalapitiya adjoining the existing power plant on 10 acre of land. Further, it has also plans to convert its existing thermal power plants to LNG plants; where feasible.

India Set To Strike Power Deal With Bangladesh

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited has said that it will sign a contract with Bangladesh on February 28 for setting up a 2*660MW power plant in district Khulna at a cost of USD 1.6 billion. Exim Bank, the external lending arm of the Indian government, agreed to bear 70% funding of the project’s costs at a soft interest rate of around 1% above Libor – the leading global benchmark for pricing transactions.
