Japan Opens New IT Institute in Maharagama, Sri Lanka

According to the Embassy of Japan in Colombo, Metatechno has opened a new IT higher education institution under the name Lanka Nippon Biztech Institution (LNBTI) in Maharagama. This institution is established by the collaboration of Metatechno and a Sri Lankan company, hSenid International, and is unique because it not only teaches Software Engineering and computer science, but also Japanese language and Japanese business culture, opening up possibilities for students to work in companies worldwide.

The Ceylon Electricity Board invites sealed bids for the Procurement of Plant – Design, Supply and Install for Package 2 – Lot B1 consisting of:  Mannar – Nadukuda 30km, 220kV, twin ACSR/AW Zebra, three phase double circuit transmission line with one Optical Fiber Ground Wire (OPGW) and one Aluminium Clad Steel Wire (AS).

The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has applied for financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) towards the cost of Green Power Development and Energy Efficiency Improvement Investment Program (Tranche 2). Part of this financing will be used for payments under the contract named above.

International Competitive Bidding (ICB) will be conducted in accordance with ADB’s Single Stage, Two Envelope bidding procedure and is open to all Bidders from eligible source countries of the ADB.

The last date for bid submission is Aug 03 2016.

AFKO Group could Reopen Kankesanthurai Cement Plant in Sri Lanka

According to Sri Lanka Industry and Commerce Ministry, South Korean conglomerate AFKO Group GMEX has expressed interest in reopening the Kankesanthurai cement plant located in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. AFKO intends to start a feasibility study shortly. Ssangyong C&T is the favoured engineering company to start construction at the site.
