Nepal likely to seek concessional loan for 1200 MW hydro project from China

The Nepal Energy Ministry has requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to propose to the Chinese government that concessional loan be given to Nepal to construct the 1200 MW Budhigandaki hydro project. Energy ministry sources say if the proposal is approved, the issue will figure during bilateral talks when Prime Minister KP Oli visits China later this month. The Nepal government has also sent a proposal to seek Chinese funding for Kimathanka Arun and Sunkoshi III.
